That Is Worthy of Adoration

(p.10) 1 There Is No Sense of Sense
Jean-Luc Nancy
Fordham University Press

This chapter examines the sense in and what is worthy of adoration. It analyzes the necessity of adoration and suggests that it is neither possible nor desirable to discuss adoration in an organized, coherent way. This chapter argues that adoration consists in holding on to the nothing without reason or origin and it carries itself with certain humility. It also contends that adoration is addressed without seeking to reach, without any intention at all, and involves the dis-enclosure of all reasons.

Keywords:   adoration, humility, dis-enclosure, reasons, sense
